Absenteeism

Referring to the news report in The Jakarta Post on
Sept. 24, 1994 entitled Students protest high absenteeism which
was related to the letter by the Institution of Students of the
Economic School, dated Sept. 14, 1994 No 001/LKFE/UKSW/IX/1994
containing among other things:

1. Hundreds of the economic students of the Christian Satya
Wacana University staged a protest against absenteeism among
lecturers.

2. The protest was staged because some lecturers had failed to
lecture as they were moonlighting in other colleges.

Therefore the management of the institution deems it necessary
to put things straight and to clarify the report as follows:

1. Until the news was printed, the reporter concerned never asked
for confirmation from the institution management about the news.

2. The institution had never issued a press release concerning
internal affairs of the economic school.

3. No protest was staged by the students on Sept. 24, 1994 as
reported by the reporter of The Jakarta Post. What actually
happened was that the students of the economic school were doing
registration for collecting the lecture subjects.

This letter should serve as a correction to the inaccurate
report.
