Absent from Annual Session, SBY Prays for the Nation from Afar
Democratic Party Chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) stated that Indonesia’s 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) is undergoing medical examinations abroad, preventing his attendance at the 2026 MPR Annual Session and Joint Session of the DPR-DPD. Despite his father’s absence, AHY said SBY is praying for Indonesia to become more advanced.
“I just had a video call with him. Alhamdulillah, there is a series of examinations. The first examination results were good, but there are several subsequent stages still in process,” AHY said at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday (14/8/2026).
“So please just pray that Mr SBY is granted health and can continue his activities,” he continued.
AHY said SBY did not convey any special message regarding his absence from the MPR Annual Session and the Joint DPR-DPD Session today. AHY stated that SBY prayed from afar for Indonesia to become more advanced and for the people to be prosperous.
“Nothing in particular. He is certainly praying from afar that this country, the Indonesia we all love, can become more advanced and its people more prosperous,” he said.
