ABRI begins another round of reshuffles
JAKARTA (JP): The Armed Forces (ABRI) announced top personnel
changes yesterday, affecting 85 officers in all the branches of
service -- the Army, the Navy, the Air Force and the National
Police.
Among the agencies affected are the Sriwijaya Regional
Military Command, the Army Strategic Reserves Command, ABRI's
Intelligence Agency, the Presidential Guard Force and the Eastern
Armada Naval Command, Antara reported.
Maj. Gen. Yunus Yosfiah, the chief of the Sriwijaya Command,
was promoted to the post of commander of the Army Staff and
Command College. He replaces Maj. Gen. Theo Syafei, who is now
serving as a member of the House of Representatives.
The new Sriwijaya chief is Brig. Gen. R. Karyono.
In the Army Strategic Reserves Command, Brig. Gen. Sridono has
been appointed as chief of staff to fill Karyono's previous post.
Col. Ismed Yuzairi has been appointed chief of that command's
First Division of Infantry to replace Brig. Gen. Johny Lumintang,
who is undergoing further education.
Col. Sugiono, currently an adjutant to President Soeharto, has
been promoted to head the Presidential Guard Force to replace
Brig. Gen. Siradjuddin P.
Within ABRI's Intelligence Agency, Col. Tyasno Sudarto and
Commodore Saleh Budiono were appointed Directors C and D,
respectively, replacing Brig. Gen. Slamet Singgih and Brig. Gen.
Mengko Abraham Johannes.
Col. Slamet Kirbiantoro was appointed as the intelligence
agency's Chief of the Intelligence Unit to replace Brig. Gen.
Sudiyono.
Commodore Bambang Suryanto, the Navy's director of operations
and training, has been promoted to the post of commander of the
Eastern Indonesia Naval Armada to replace Rear Admiral Gofar
Soewarno.
In all, 47 Army officers, 15 Navy, 12 Air Force and 11
National Police officers were affected by the reshuffle, the
first of many changes now being planned in the military. (emb)
