The National Association of Village Consultative Bodies (Abpednas) and PT Sucofindo (Persero) have officially launched the construction of clean water wells in Meunasah Gampong Lambleut, Darul Kamal Subdistrict, Aceh Besar. This event marks the starting point for building 70 clean water wells across various regions of Indonesia, from Aceh to Merauke, as part of the celebrations for PT Sucofindo’s (Persero) 70th anniversary on 22 October 2026. The programme to provide clean water to communities also implements President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita in realising national water resilience and sovereignty to improve community welfare.

Under the programme titled “Jaga Air Bersih untuk Desa” (Protect Clean Water for Villages), the construction of clean water facilities will take place at 70 operational sites of PT Sucofindo (Persero), spread across Sumatra, Java, Bali, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, and Papua. This initiative is projected to directly benefit around 3,500 to 7,000 rural residents, particularly in areas still facing limited access to clean water.

Abpednas General Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Education Sector of the Indonesian Journalists Association of DKI Jakarta (PWI Jaya), Indra Utama, stated that this collaboration represents a concrete form of synergy in supporting the basic needs of rural communities while strengthening inclusive and sustainable development.

“Clean water is not only a basic need but also the foundation of health, productivity, and quality of life for rural communities. Through this collaboration, Abpednas and PT Sucofindo (Persero) aim to ensure that development reaches the villages that need it. This programme also contributes meaningfully to achieving the SDGs and more equitable village development,” he said.

He added that the initiative aligns with the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 6 on Clean Water and Sanitation, which focuses on providing sustainable access to clean water and decent sanitation for communities.

Meanwhile, Abpednas Supervisory Board Chairman, Prof. Dr. Reda Manthovani, emphasised the importance of governance and accountability in implementing social programmes that directly address community needs.

“Cross-sector collaboration is essential to ensure the programme runs on target, transparently, and delivers real impact. The presence of various stakeholders in this programme is expected to strengthen public trust while accelerating the equitable distribution of basic services in rural areas,” said Prof. Dr. Reda Manthovani.

PT Sucofindo (Persero) President Director, Sandry Pasambuna, stated that the construction of clean water wells is part of the company’s commitment to delivering social benefits in line with sustainability principles and the application of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance).

“Entering its 70th year, PT Sucofindo (Persero) wants to continue strengthening its real contributions to Indonesian society. We hope that Sucofindo’s presence is not only felt through business services but also through direct social impacts that touch community needs. This programme also embodies the company’s support for achieving the SDGs, particularly access to clean water and sustainable village development,” said Sandry.

As a Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) company, PT Sucofindo (Persero) also plays a role in ensuring aspects of quality, safety, sustainability, and compliance with standards in various development sectors, including supporting the provision of safe and sustainable clean water access for communities.

The clean water well construction programme will be implemented in stages and is targeted for completion on the occasion of PT Sucofindo’s (Persero) 70th anniversary on 22 October 2026.

“We hope that the collaboration between PT Sucofindo (Persero) and Abpednas can strengthen synergy between state-owned enterprises, village organisations, and stakeholders in supporting inclusive, healthy, and sustainable village development,” said Sandry Pasambuna.
