Abpednas Details Steps to Implement Food Security Programme Amidst Climate Change Impacts

Serang, VIVA – The Deputy General Chairman of the National Association of Village Consultative Bodies (Abpednas), Irfan Aghasar, attended a socialisation event regarding local food security policies and village community empowerment in facing the impacts of climate change. The event was organised by the Ministry of Villages and Disadvantaged Regions in collaboration with the World Bank at the Swiss-Belinn Modern Cikande, Serang, Banten.

During the event, Irfan attended as an invited guest representing the Abpednas Central Executive Board. He stated that the policies being socialised by the Ministry of Villages and Disadvantaged Regions have already been implemented by Abpednas.

“What is being socialised by the Ministry of Villages and discussed today, we at Abpednas have been working on independently for a long time, such as biofloc, egg-laying chicken programmes, and the distribution of clean wells using a QR Code control system through the ‘Jaga Pangan’ (Food Guard) programme,” said Irfan on Tuesday, 30 June 2026.

Furthermore, he noted that the Abpednas Central Executive Board appreciates the efforts of the Ministry of Villages and Disadvantaged Regions in identifying fundamental issues in facing the challenges of climate change.

“Naturally, we from the Abpednas Central Executive Board appreciate what is being done by the Ministry of Villages; they are able to anticipate and prepare for future climate change issues. We hope that Abpednas can collaborate with the Ministry of Villages moving forward,” he added.

The event was attended by the Minister of Villages and Disadvantaged Regions, Yandri Susanto; the Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency, Arif Satria; representatives from the World Bank; the Deputy Minister of Villages and Disadvantaged Regions, Ahmad Riza Patria; the Vice Governor of Banten, Achmad Dimyati Natakusumah; the Regent of Banten, Hj. Ratu Rachmatuzakiyah; and various Village Associations and Village Heads from the Serang Regency, Banten Province.
