The Chairman of the National Village Consultative Body Association (ABPEDNAS), Indra Utama, has expressed appreciation for President Prabowo Subianto’s commitment to strengthening anti-corruption efforts. According to Indra, this commitment is evident in Prabowo’s steps to ensure that corruption cases are handled according to legal corridors while maintaining solidarity among law enforcement officials. “The President’s steps in overseeing the handling of various corruption cases demonstrate the government’s seriousness in realising clean, accountable, and high-integrity governance,” Indra said in a statement on Sunday (12/7/2026). Indra hopes this commitment will continue to be realised through firm, transparent, and indiscriminate law enforcement against all perpetrators of corruption. He stated that such steps are important to strengthen public trust while providing a deterrent effect for corruptors. In addition to supporting anti-corruption efforts, Indra emphasised the importance of the role of Village Consultative Bodies (BPD) in preventing corrupt practices within village governance. He said the BPD holds a strategic position because it carries out oversight functions over village administration, discusses and agrees on village regulations with the village head, and channels community aspirations. “Through these functions, the BPD is at the forefront of realising transparent, accountable, and high-integrity village governance,” he said. Indra assessed that strengthening BPD capacity, improving the quality of supervision, and fostering synergy between the BPD, village government, supervisory officials, and law enforcement officers are important factors in preventing financial mismanagement in villages from an early stage. He stressed that anti-corruption efforts must start from the level of government closest to the community.
