ABP Supports Attorney General's Office Involvement in Monitoring MBG Programme
Jakarta - The Relawan Arus Bawah Prabowo (ABP) supports the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung), particularly the Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence (Jamintel), in supervising the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme. This step is considered highly strategic to ensure the programme operates transparently, accountably, and on target for the public. ABP General Chairman Michael Umbas emphasised that Jamintel’s involvement strengthens a layered supervision system that is not only repressive but also preventive. “With Jamintel, supervision becomes stronger from upstream to downstream. This is important to prevent potential deviations before they become legal cases. Most importantly, MBG must not be exploited for personal interests,” said Umbas in an official press release received in Jakarta on Tuesday. Umbas assessed that involving Kejagung will provide the MBG with three layers of supervision: legal intelligence by the Prosecutor’s Office, financial audits by the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), and public participation through community reporting. According to him, this supervision model is progressive as it opens opportunities for public involvement in monitoring state budget usage. “Public involvement or crowd-sourced auditing is key. The public can report suspected deviations, so supervision does not solely rely on authorities,” Umbas stated. Furthermore, ABP affirmed that the MBG Programme is the top priority and mainstay of the Prabowo Subianto administration. This programme is viewed as a strategic foundation in building the quality of Indonesia’s human resources from an early stage. He continued that the programme’s success will directly impact improvements in education quality, health, and national productivity in the long term. Therefore, strict supervision is key to ensuring these grand objectives are not disrupted by deviant practices in the field.
