About arming prosecutors
From Media Indonesia
Head of the information center of the Attorney General's
Office, Kiemas Yahya has said in his statement the office has
received permits from the police to provide 70 prosecutors in
Jakarta and in the provinces with guns for self-defense,
following the murder of Ferry Silalahi, a prosecutor stationed in
Palu, Central Sulawesi.
The police should have complete background information about
the prosecutors carrying the guns so that there is no abuse of
these weapons. The prosecutors should be physically and mentally
prepared before the guns are issued to them to ensure they will
use the weapons only when they have to.
