Abolishment of 'bemo'

Abolishment of 'bemo'

From Neraca

I usually use a bemo (three-wheeled motorized vehicle) to
transport merchandise to Pasar Minggu market. With the
government's plan to abolish the bemo, which is a cheap means of
transport, I regard it as a blow to my small business. Bemo can
transport many items and is safe for passengers because you don't
have to board or alight in a hurry.

Becak and bajaj also benefit my small business. They are
available any time of day, even in the wee hours. On the other
hand, buses and metrominis are rather inconvenient as the drivers
usually speed and give very little time for passengers to get in
and out of the vehicles.

I realize that becak and bemo, although the cheapest in fares,
add to the traffic chaos. Owing to this I have no objection to
the idea of abolishing the vehicles, but couldn't the government
provide us with alternative convenient means of transport?
