Abolish democracy
Abolish democracy
in RI, too costly
From Media Indonesia
Democracy in Indonesia today tends to ruin nationhood and
statehood because its implementation is high-cost and leads to a
waste of public funds.
The three elections held last year, for instance, cost a lot
of money, and then we discover that the General Elections
Commission is allegedly involved in a bribery case to cover up
its embezzlement of large portions of the election fund.
The forthcoming elections of regional chiefs will likely also
be wasteful. In fact, the state does not have sufficient funds
and still has large foreign debts.
Most people still have no idea about the type of democracy
they need. Some groups can only say that we are indeed learning
to implement democracy and this process is very costly.
The question is: Should we maintain this wasteful democracy
for the mere purpose of serving the interests of a handful of
politicians with their concepts that have gone too far?
I would suggest that the laws creating the extravagant
spending of public funds in the name of democracy be abolished,
so as not to impose great financial burden on more than 200
million people.
