ABN AMRO opens new branches

JAKARTA (JP): ABN AMRO Bank Indonesia will open two new branches in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan and Makassar, South Sulawesi on Friday, making it the leading foreign bank with the largest branch network in the country.

"Makassar and Balikpapan are both attractive markets. Balikpapan for its oil and gas industry, while Makassar represents the gateway to East Indonesia with strong agricultural and mining industries," ABN AMRO country manager Pieter van den Akker said in a statement on Thursday.

The two new branches will increase the Dutch bank's branch network in Indonesia to 15. Branches are located in ten major cities in Java, Bali, Kalimantan, Sumatra and Sulawesi.
