Abdullah Syaifuddin named Tanjung Priok port chief
JAKARTA (JP): The Jakarta seaport, Tanjung Priok, has a new chief, Abdullah Syaifuddin, replacing Harmani who was promoted to become a director of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II, the state-owned seaport management company.
Syaifuddin and 24 other seaport executives were sworn in over the weekend by Pelabuhan II president Amir Harbani, Antara news agency reported.
The newly-installed executives include Agustomo as chief of Tanjung Priok's container terminal, Suwadji Putro as chief of Cirebon port in West Java and Darlis Garan as chief of Tanjung Pandan port in South Sumatra.
Amin Lihu and Widodo were installed respectively as the general manager and deputy general manager of the Koja container terminal at Tanjung Priok.
Harbani said the Koja container terminal, an expansion on Tanjung Priok's two old container terminals, would start trial operations in the first quarter next year.
The new multi-million-dollar container terminal is being developed by Pelabuhan II in cooperation with the Humpuss Group, a leading conglomerate controlled by Hutomo Mandala Putra, the President's youngest son.
The 90-hectare terminal will be able to hold around 1.2 million 20-foot-long containers or their equivalent. (icn)
