Abdul Mu’ti, the Indonesian Minister for Primary and Secondary Education, urged Muslims not merely to recite the holy Qur’an but to study its meanings as a compass for life. He spoke during a tausiyah at the Teladan Mengaji & Berbagi event, organised by Ikatan Keluarga Alumni Teladan (Ikat) of SMAN 3 Jakarta, at the Mabes TNI AD Mosque on Saturday, 7 March. As an alumnus of SMAN 3 Jakarta, class of 1986, Mu’ti emphasised that the Qur’an is guidance, mercy, and a light for humanity. He reminded listeners to engage with the sacred book with a pure heart and to seek Allah’s protection from the whispers of Satan. In his message, he highlighted two important dimensions of reading the Qur’an: - Regarding worship in Ramadan, the primary purpose of fasting is to shape a pious character. A key indicator of piety is generosity—the willingness to share. “People who are pious are described as those who are prepared to spend the wealth they love on others, especially the poor and those in need,” he explained. This spirit of giving was evident in the event through the distribution of donations to 250 orphans. At the end of his tausiyah, Mu’ti underscored the importance of the education sector in improving societal welfare. He said strengthening religious education and internalising Qur’anic values are essential for the younger generation to grow into individuals of virtuous character. This step is hoped to help produce an Indonesia that excels toward the ambitious vision for 2045. Mendikdasmen Mu’ti also supported Komdigi’s policy restricting social media use for children under 16. In linguistic terms, muhasabah derives from the word hissaba, meaning to count, evaluate, or assess. Rekam jejak refers to the track record—the record of a person, organisation, a government agency, and so on. In everyday life, some people face continual hardship. One problem after another seems to come, and why is that? Who are they?
