Abdul Ghoni Reappointed to Lead DPP FORKABI for 2026-2031 Term

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Central Executive Board (DPP) of the Betawi Children Communication Forum (FORKABI) will once again be led by Abdul Ghoni for the 2026-2031 period. He reaffirmed his determination to serve as a strategic partner to both the government and the community in the development of the city and the nation.

“This trust is not for me personally, but for the entire FORKABI family, which remains committed to maintaining unity and fighting for the interests of the Betawi people,” Ghoni stated in Jakarta on Monday. He added that this mandate is a responsibility he will carry out with full accountability for the progress of the organisation and the Betawi community.

Ghoni expressed his gratitude for the renewed confidence in his leadership for the next five years. He noted that the challenges facing the Betawi community in the future require unity and cohesion among all elements. Consequently, he urged the Betawi people, particularly members of FORKABI, not to be easily divided by the pragmatic interests of certain individuals.

“I invite all Betawi people to unite and not be easily fragmented. Through unity, we can be stronger in advocating for the interests of the Betawi people while simultaneously contributing to the development of Jakarta and the nation,” Ghoni said. He also emphasised the importance of advancing the Betawi people and preserving their culture so that it remains vibrant and known to the younger generation.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the VI FORKABI Grand Assembly (Mubes), Gunawan Setiady, stated that the assembly held on 6 June 2026 proceeded smoothly, with the consensus to reappoint Ghoni to helm the DPP FORKABI. Gunawan, who also serves as the Vice Chairman of the DPP FORKABI, noted that the legality of FORKABI was evidenced by the presence of government officials at the assembly, including the Regional Secretary of DKI Jakarta, Uus Kuswanto, the Mayor of South Jakarta, Syafrin Liputo, and members of the legislature. The assembly was also attended by the Chairman of the Customary Council of the Trustees of the Betawi People’s Assembly (MKB), Datuk Mualim Fauzi Bowo, and the Chairman of the Trustees of the MKB, Marullah Matali.
