ABB to lead $65m project in Indonesia

A consortium led by power and technology company ABB Ltd. has
signed a US$65 million contract with the Indonesian government to
build a 309 kilometer power line on the main island of Java, ABB
said Friday.

ABB said its portion of the contract is worth about $32
million. The company will lead the consortium and provide
engineering, design, project management, supply management and
logistics.

The order is scheduled for completion within 24 months and
includes 750 towers, ABB said. The line is part of the extension
of the 500-kilovolt ultrahigh voltage grid linking new power
plants in eastern Java to cities including Jakarta.

The Japan Bank of International Cooperation is financing the
project, ABB said. --Dow Jones
