Abandoned Motorcycle Found in Bogor Turns Out to Be Stolen

A motorcycle was found lying abandoned in Cibinong Sub-district, Bogor Regency, West Java, this morning. The motorbike is suspected to have been stolen.

“It happened that our officers were on patrol and spotted it — a motorcycle left by the roadside with no one watching over it,” said Cibinong Police Chief Commissioner Jony Handoko on Tuesday (15/9/2026).

Cibinong Police officers on patrol waited for some time regarding the discovery of the motorcycle. However, he said its owner never came to retrieve it.

“So we called nearby residents, we called the neighbourhood unit head, to ask about the motorcycle’s whereabouts,” he said.

It turned out that none of the local residents knew who owned the motorcycle. The police then took the unclaimed motorbike to the police station.

“Coincidentally, a man named Tatang came to file a report at Cibinong Police Station. When we asked around, it turned out it was his motorcycle that we had found,” he said.

The police then checked the vehicle’s documents belonging to him. After it was confirmed that the motorcycle belonged to the victim, the police returned it.

“Now we have returned it to its owner. We advise the owner that whenever going anywhere, wherever the vehicle is parked, it must always be kept under watch,” he said.

Jony said the motorcycle had been taken and driven off by an unknown person. However, partway through the journey, the motorcycle suddenly broke down and was abandoned.

“That’s right, it had been driven off by the perpetrator. It just so happened that the motorbike suddenly died on its own, so the perpetrator left it by the roadside for fear of being caught,” he concluded.
