Wearing a black robe, a black blazer, and a white turban, Abah AIS appeared to respond to a summons from investigators of the PPA Unit, Criminal Investigation Division of the Central Lombok Police, on Monday (28/09/2026). The former leader of the Abul Barokat Wannafaat Islamic Boarding School is being questioned regarding allegations of sexual harassment and violence against his female students.

According to observations by detikBali, Ahmad Imanuddin Sumar, alias AIS or Abah, arrived at the Central Lombok Police Headquarters at approximately 09:10 WITA, accompanied by his legal counsel. He was seen wearing a black gamis with a black blazer and a white turban wrapped around his head.

Abah AIS responded to the investigators’ summons after previously denying all allegations levelled against him. It was also noted that he was intended to be questioned alongside his wife and a trusted associate, identified by the initial M.

Based on media monitoring, only Abah AIS was seen attending the interrogation. As of 14:30 WITA, he was still providing statements to investigators, while members of the press continued to wait for the conclusion of the session.

Previously, AIS denied all accusations directed at him. He stated that his side is preparing a formal complaint to report his former student, Yusron, to the police for alleged defamation.

“Regarding the untrue accusations that have damaged my reputation, I declare that I will take legal action and report Mr Yusron to the authorities,” he added on Wednesday (23/09/2026).

According to him, Yusron unilaterally distributed a draft text containing allegations that he had sexually harassed his students. He noted that Yusron had never approached him directly regarding the matter.

“The individual involved did not follow the process of ‘tabayyun’ (clarification) with me first, but instead immediately spread unproven issues,” he said.

In addition to Yusron, Imanuddin stated that he intends to report BBC Indonesia, as he believes the media coverage published by the outlet has caused him harm.

“I have made this decision because I consider the reporting to be one-sided and failing to provide adequate space for me to provide a balanced clarification. The coverage has also caused both material and immaterial losses to me and my family,” he explained.

Imanuddin further noted that the news coverage has impacted the psychological well-being of himself and his family.

“The psychological condition of myself and my extended family has been disturbed due to these accusations, which I maintain are untrue,” he concluded.
