The Indonesian Life Insurance Association (AAJI) recorded claim and benefit payments of more than Rp 38 trillion throughout the first quarter of 2026. This figure marks a slight increase compared to claim payments in the first quarter of 2025, which stood at Rp 38.16 trillion.

“In the first quarter of 2026, the life insurance industry paid out claims and benefits amounting to Rp 38.73 trillion, representing a 1.5 per cent increase compared to the same period last year,” said Wianto Chen, Head of Literacy and Consumer Protection at AAJI, during a press conference regarding the insurance industry’s performance report for the January–March 2026 period in Jakarta.

Wianto noted that the realisation of claim and benefit payments in the first three months of this year is a positive achievement amidst the challenges of economic uncertainty and high medical inflation. “For us, this is tangible proof that the industry is providing protection to the public, even amidst ongoing economic challenges. These claims and benefits are a very concrete form of evidence showing the resilience of our industry’s commitment,” he explained.

From the perspective of policyholders, AAJI recorded end-of-contract claims reaching Rp 10.45 trillion in the first quarter of 2026, an increase of 112 per cent from the position in the first quarter of 2025. “This indicates that an increasing number of policyholders have reached the end of their coverage period and have received benefits in accordance with their policy terms,” he added.
