AAJI Claims a Bright Future for Life Insurance, But How?
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Chairman of the Indonesian Life Insurance Association (AAJI), Albertus Wiroyo, said that the potential of the life insurance sector is still very large, positive, and bright.
Therefore, he is optimistic that the life insurance industry will continue to grow in the future.
“The future of life insurance is still bright because currently the penetration rate is still low, as are literacy and inclusion. This is an opportunity for us to better educate the public about the importance of insurance,” said Albertus at the Insurance Forum with the theme “Optimizing Insurance Protection and the New Direction of Unit Link Development in Indonesia”, Thursday (February 26, 2026).
Moreover, since 2025, AAJI has also strengthened its foundations and improved governance by continuing to prioritize consumer needs. In addition, there has been a positive increase in premiums, reaching 13.7%, which is dominated by retail customers.
According to Albertus, this is good news because more and more retail customers are aware of the need for insurance.
However, Albertus also acknowledged that the life insurance industry still has challenges to face, especially regarding public trust. He explained that there is still a perception in the community that insurance companies are quick to collect premiums but slow in processing claims.
“We will continue to improve this and explain that insurance also needs time for the process, both in terms of premiums and claims. However, we ensure that we continue to improve ourselves, be more innovative, but also simpler,” Albertus concluded.
