“This is part of the constitutional rights of citizens, that the freedom to express opinions and thoughts, the right to obtain information, as well as the right to participate and have equal standing in law and government, are human rights guaranteed by the constitution,” said Maringka in a written statement on Wednesday (6/5/2026). He added that the presence of AAAFI also serves as a form of active participation in promoting justice and societal welfare. “This is part of our active participation process to uphold justice and truth, advance public welfare, and enlighten the nation’s life,” he further stated. Maringka also emphasised active participation in helping enforce the law, the right of every citizen to receive legal protection, to receive equal treatment before the law and government, and the right to obtain justice. “Since independence, we have declared ourselves a rule-of-law state. The right to fair legal protection should be upheld to the highest degree in Indonesia as a rule-of-law state, and this must continue to be fought for based on non-discriminatory, participatory principles, and applicable to all citizens,” he said. He explained that lawyers and accountants play important roles in uncovering material truth in legal processes. “In a trial of financial crime cases, lawyers and accountants are like two sides of a coin. Lawyers focus on law enforcement, accountants focus on calculating losses fairly and justly. That is why we have gathered and agreed to give birth to AAAFI,” he clarified. Several prominent figures are involved in the establishment of this association, including Hamdan Zoelva (Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court 2013-2015), Prof. Haryono Umar (former Deputy Chair of the KPK), Prof. Hariyanto, and Hendry Jayadi. In addition, several senior lawyers and accountants have also joined to strengthen the organisation. AAAFI General Secretary, Irwanto, revealed that the organisation was actually formed in February, but only now has it officially become a public organisation. “This organisation was formed since last February, but it was not yet a public organisation; today we all agree to make it a public organisation, which will recruit members throughout Indonesia and will open offices in all regions that already have members,” he explained. Irwanto emphasised that AAAFI is not a competitor to existing lawyers’ organisations, but rather an organisation with a more specific focus. “If likened to medical practice, this is a specialist doctor,” he said. “Therefore, we will facilitate our members with a number of special forensic trainings, such as Certified Forensic Legal Analyst (CFLA), and various other special trainings,” he concluded.
