AAA inducts Vietnam
JAKARTA (JP): The ASEAN International Airport Association (AAA) completed its 14th annual meeting here yesterday and agreed to incorporate Vietnam into the association in the next meeting slated here next year.
State-owned PT Angkasa Pura II, which manages several airports including Soekarno-Hatta international airport, hosted the meeting, which discussed various topics, including comparison of airport charges among members, passenger service charges, airport development, passenger handling services and airport statistic.
Angkasa Pura II said in a statement yesterday that the AAA constitution stipulates that every member country of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will automatically become a member of AAA.
"Since Vietnam has become the seventh member of ASEAN, the meeting agreed to invite Vietnam to attend the next meeting of AAA in 1996," the statement said.
Besides Vietnam, ASEAN groups Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. (rid)
