Kojima Productions, the studio behind Death Stranding, held an internal celebration called ‘Otsukaresama Day’ on Friday 27 February 2026. Otsukaresama Day is an internal event usually held to recognise staff performance and to mark the company’s hiatus. At this event, the company typically serves special dishes; this time one of the dishes chosen was Opor Ayam, an Indonesian dish. The official Kojima Productions account on X (formerly Twitter) shared posts displaying Opor Ayam arranged as a buffet. In another image, Opor Ayam is shown paired with rice and side dishes such as fried tofu and tempeh. ‘Our Otsukaresama Day is back after a while… After a little hiatus, our end-of-the-month celebration is back. Today’s menu: Opor Ayam. A traditional Indonesian chicken dish simmered in coconut milk.’ Opor Ayam is a traditional Indonesian dish popular particularly during major celebrations such as Idul Fitri (Lebaran). The dish is made by simmering chicken in coconut milk with spices such as lemongrass, galangal, bay leaves, and coriander, and is usually served with ketupat or lontong. There was no explicit reason given for why Kojima Productions chose Opor Ayam to mark this moment. In the comments, some users and gamers on X, perhaps some from Indonesia, expressed pride at the selection of Opor Ayam as the main dish. Some internet users also suggested Kojima Productions try other Indonesian dishes such as Seblak, Nasi Padang, Rendang, Soto Betawi, and Rawon.
