A Time Will Come When Roads, Mosques, and Even Places of Sin Will Testify About Our Deeds

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — One day, an event will unfold that we often read about in the Quran, yet rarely truly contemplate.

On that day, the earth we tread upon will speak. The roads we walk every day will bear witness. The houses we live in will reveal their secrets. The mosques we attend will recount our deeds.

Even the places that once witnessed sin and transgression will not remain silent.

That is one of the awe-inspiring scenes of the Day of Judgement — the day when every human being stands alone before Allah SWT.

No wealth, position, rank, family or influence will be able to help. All that remains is the record of one’s deeds and testimony that cannot possibly be denied.

Allah Ta’ala says:

“On that Day, the earth will relate its news.” (QS Az-Zalzalah: 4)

When reciting this verse, the Prophet Muhammad SAW once asked his companions:

“Do you know what is meant by the news of the earth?”

The companions replied: “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He then explained:

“Indeed, the news of the earth is its testimony against every servant, male or female, concerning what they did upon its surface. The earth will say: on such a day, he or she did this and that. That is the news it will relate.” (HR Tirmidhi)
