A Test of Nerve on a Steel Cable Bridge: The Struggle of West Aceh Students and Teachers to Reach School

The spirit of learning remains undimmed despite the daily risks. Teachers and students in Sikundo Village, Pante Ceureumen District, West Aceh Regency, are forced to traverse a steel cable bridge to get to and from school after the suspension bridge connecting Sarah Sare and Durian hamlets was destroyed by a disaster at the end of November 2025. For more than six months, this emergency route has been the only access available to residents. The situation not only tests the courage of the students and teachers but also paints a stark picture of the significant challenges facing education access in remote areas.
