PT Pertamina Patra Niaga - Integrated Terminal (IT) Jakarta has successfully introduced integrated environmental and social innovations that are measurable and deliver significant, sustainable impacts. This achievement serves as concrete proof of the company’s commitment to surpassing compliance standards through innovative, data-based approaches and community empowerment.

In the environmental sector, IT Jakarta has developed the flagship eco-innovation ALPUCHEM (Emission Reduction through ALPUKET 2.0 for Tanker Trucks), which addresses the main challenges of emissions and fuel losses in the distribution process. Through a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach, the company successfully identified critical points (hotspots) in the form of VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) emissions due to vapour loss.

The ALPUKET 2.0 technology was then implemented to enable direct field testing of system tightness, allowing potential leaks to be prevented early. As a result, this innovation has significantly reduced VOC emissions and minimised fuel losses to nearly zero.

Positive impacts are also evident in various other environmental indicators, such as reductions in global warming potential, ozone depletion, acid rain, eutrophication, and environmental toxicity. This innovation also enhances workplace safety aspects and provides operational efficiency with economic value.

IT Jakarta’s strengths are further bolstered through the integration of various supporting programmes, such as energy efficiency via FuelSmart, hazardous waste reduction through Clean Link, inspection digitalisation via Check Mate, and water efficiency along with domestic waste management.

All these initiatives are carried out within a circular economy framework that optimises resource utilisation and minimises waste across the entire business chain. Not only focusing on operational environmental aspects, IT Jakarta also introduces social innovations through the Kerak Telor Programme, which transforms waste into economic value for the community.

This programme utilises egg shell waste from SMEs to be processed into organic fertiliser by elderly groups, which is then used by local farmers in sweet potato cultivation.

The subsequent harvest is then reprocessed by SMEs into value-added food products, creating a sustainable circular economic chain. This programme has proven effective in reducing waste and carbon emissions, while significantly increasing community income, particularly for women-led SME actors.

In addition, various vulnerable groups such as the elderly, underprivileged communities, and children are empowered through an inclusive, productive, and sustainable collaborative ecosystem. By successfully integrating environmental and social innovations into a holistic system, IT Jakarta has created changes that not only impact company operations but also community welfare and environmental preservation.

Data-based approaches, technological innovations, and community empowerment serve as the keys to success in creating measurable and sustainable impacts.

For these achievements, IT Jakarta is deemed to have demonstrated leadership in sustainable business practices and exceeded environmental compliance standards, thus deserving the PROPER Emas award as the highest recognition for environmental and social performance in Indonesia.
