A New Phase in Andrie Yunus's Acid Attack Case: Re-filed Reports, CCTV Evidence, and Pre-trial Efforts
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The acid attack case against KontraS’s Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus has entered a new phase after being reported again to the Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim). The report was subsequently forwarded to Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) to facilitate the investigation. Investigators are currently questioning several witnesses proposed by the defence lawyers. To support the process, the Tim Advokasi Untuk Demokrasi (TAUD) has also submitted independent investigation findings to the police. The previously reported Model A regarding the acid attack case against Andrie Yunus had been forwarded to the Army’s Military Police (Puspom TNI). After that, the defence team again filed a new report with Bareskrim Polri. However, weeks later, the report was re-forwarded to Polda Metro Jaya. The Director of General Criminal Investigation at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Wira Satya Triputra, explained that the transfer was made because the location, time of the incident, and the subject matter were deemed the same as the report previously handled by Polda Metro Jaya. ‘If we at Bareskrim are like a petrol station, starting from scratch. Meanwhile there (Polda Metro Jaya) yesterday the evidence had been gathered, witnesses had given statements,’ he said. The report was filed so the police could trace the involvement of civilians as well as the alleged attempt to commit murder. After more than a month, police began questioning several witnesses proposed by the defence team. So far, two representatives from TAUD have been questioned regarding their findings. On Tuesday, 19 May 2026, investigators also questioned Ravio Patra, who carried the documents detailing the analysis of CCTV footage along the route suspected to have been traversed by the suspect.
