A New Home for National and Global Capital
Indonesia has grown into the country with the largest economy in ASEAN and has become one of the most attractive investment destinations in the region. However, being a place for incoming investment is not enough. Indonesia needs to develop into a home for both national and global capital — a place where funds are raised, managed, traded, and reinvested to support development. All this time, a great deal of investment has indeed entered Indonesia. Yet, many of the accompanying financial transactions — from financing and asset management to cross-border transactions — are still largely settled through financial centres abroad. As a result, a portion of the added value from financial activities has not been fully enjoyed by Indonesia.
