A New Break for Matcha Lovers
After nearly 30 years of being known as a premium florist in Jakarta, Floé Flowers has expanded its wings into the food and beverage sector by introducing Kuju Matcha, a floral-concept matcha cafe located in Plaza Senayan, Central Jakarta. The arrival of Kiri Matcha marks a new chapter for Floé Flowers, which has occupied Plaza Senayan for 27 years. Unlike most matcha cafes, this establishment offers a premium matcha experience blended with floral touches, an element that has long been part of Floé Flowers’ identity.
The founder of Floé Flowers and Kiri Matcha, Wenda Kurniawan, explained that the idea for Kiri Matcha arose from a desire to create a space for the public to take a brief respite from the density of city activities. “For 27 years, we have helped the community celebrate various moments through flowers. Through Kiri Matcha, we want to provide a more personal and simple experience, where people can enjoy time for themselves, slow down, and rediscover beauty in everyday life,” said Wenda.
The launch of Kiri Matcha comes amidst the increasing interest of the Indonesian public in matcha. In recent years, the popularity of matcha-based beverages has continued to rise, driving the emergence of various cafe concepts featuring the product. Responding to this trend, Floé Flowers chose to present a different concept by integrating floristry elements into the customer experience. The floral elements in Kiri Matcha serve not only as decoration but as an essential part of the space’s character; visitors are welcomed by a garden-inspired atmosphere with natural elements, soft lighting, and floral arrangements designed directly by the Floé Flowers team.
Adopting the ‘feel blooming’ philosophy, Kiri Matcha is designed as a place that invites visitors to enjoy every moment mindfully while providing tranquility amidst urban bustle. For its launch, Kiri Matcha also collaborated with a Japanese-Indonesian Balinese florist, Yukiko Aga, also known as Kiko. This collaboration resulted in a special menu titled ‘Kiko Summer Breeze’, a limited-edition matcha blend inspired by Kiko’s creative approach. According to Wenda, this partnership was chosen because it reflects the blend of Japanese aesthetics and tropical nuances that served as the primary inspiration for the Kiri Matcha concept.
Currently, Kiri Matcha is in the process of obtaining Halal certification. Nevertheless, all raw materials used have undergone a curation process and are selected with halal consumption standards in mind. Wenda emphasised that Kiri Matcha strives to offer products enjoyable to all groups. All beverage menus are carefully composed using selected ingredients to maintain flavour quality and ensure customer comfort. Kiri Matcha is now officially operational and can be visited at Plaza Senayan, Level P4 Atrium, Central Jakarta.
