A Month of Operations: Begal-Hunter Team Seizes Dozens of Bladed Weapons and Eight Firearms

One month of operations by the Begal-Hunter Team of the Metro Jaya Regional Police yielded seizures of dozens of bladed weapons and eight firearms as part of ongoing efforts during May 2026. The operation uncovered 413 cases and led to 173 arrests. ‘During this period, we have seized 466 pieces of evidence,’ said Kombes Iman Imanuddin, Director of Criminal Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya, at a press conference at the Metro Jaya Regional Police headquarters in Jakarta on Friday, 22 May. He noted that the seizures included devices used by suspects in robberies with violence (curas). Police also seized equipment used to steal motorcycles, including T-bar keys and 45 blades. ‘Additionally, 240 other items such as clothing, CCTV footage, and items recovered from the suspects’ crimes were seized,’ he added. Polda Metro Jaya recorded at least 1,283 street-crime reports in its jurisdiction during May 2026. Of these, 651 involved aggravated theft (curat), 396 ordinary theft, 209 motorcycle theft (curanmor), and 27 other reports related to theft with violence (curas). ‘To date, the Begal-Hunter Team continues to work on uncovering cases that remain unsolved,’ he affirmed.
