A Look Inside Jakarta Smart City’s Advanced Control Room, Which Impresses Visitors
The Namu Balai Kota programme offers residents more than a chance to learn about the Jakarta government’s offices. Visitors are also invited to see how the Jakarta Provincial Government uses technology to manage the capital through Jakarta Smart City.
When detikcom visited Jakarta City Hall on Saturday (31 October 2026), several participants in the programme toured the Jakarta Smart City office. The facility is one of the centres for managing the city using digital technology.
There, participants were introduced to various facilities supporting the development of the smart city concept.
One feature that caught visitors’ attention was the presence of five large meeting rooms. They are used for discussions, coordination and developing innovations related to city management.
The monitoring room, however, drew the most interest. Participants could see how staff monitor conditions across Jakarta around the clock through a network of CCTV cameras.
Large screens displayed information and conditions in different parts of the capital. The system enables staff to monitor the city and receive and respond to residents’ reports.
Visitors were also introduced to the Jakarta Kini (JAKI) app. It brings together a range of public services on one platform, making it easier for residents to access information and government services.
One visitor, Mary, 40, said she was impressed after seeing the Jakarta Smart City facilities during the Namu Balai Kota programme. She said the platform could help residents access a range of information and report problems in the capital.
“We were really pleased to see what it’s like inside and what the meeting rooms are like. There’s Jakarta Smart City, and we never knew before that we had such a smart platform where we can make reports and find all kinds of news and information about Jakarta. It’s all there. Jakarta Smart City is amazing,” Mary said.
Mary said the facilities should be promoted more widely, as many residents are still unaware of Jakarta Smart City’s functions and available services.
