A Look at Spring Festival Celebrations in the Homes of Xizang Residents, China
Lhasa (ANTARA) - Monday (16/2) marked Lunar New Year’s Eve, which coincided with Gutu Eve in the Tibetan calendar. Enjoying the festive atmosphere, the Sangs-rgyas family purchased new furnishings and prepared New Year essentials, celebrating their first Spring Festival and Tibetan New Year after moving into their new home.
On 7 January last year, a magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck Dingri, the location of the main northern base camp of the world’s highest peak, Mount Qomolangma, as well as several other areas in the region. Less than three days after the earthquake, Xizang launched a post-disaster reconstruction plan and immediately commenced rebuilding work. In the second half of 2025, the Sangs-rgyas family moved into a safe and comfortable new home.
