A Jacket Dispute Ends with a Teenager in Gunungkidul Being Assaulted by 10 People

A teenager in Gunungkidul has become the victim of an assault carried out by a number of people. Police have now arrested 10 suspects. The abuse began when the victim, identified as R (17), borrowed a jacket from one of the perpetrators. However, the jacket was not returned. The perpetrator, identified by the initial P, even went to R’s house but did not meet him. “P and his parents even went to the victim’s house but only met the victim’s sibling,” said Gunungkidul Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, AKP Tri Hartanto, on Friday (19/6/2026). An angered P then contacted R, asking him to come to a café in Wonosari. They met in mid-June. During that meeting, the victim was still unable to return the jacket because he had lent it to another friend. “The victim then came to the café to resolve the jacket issue, and it turned out the victim had lent the perpetrator’s jacket to his friend,” Hartanto stated. This admission enraged P, who then punched R. R was subsequently taken to a vacant house where several of P’s friends were already waiting. They then proceeded to beat him. “As a result of the assault, the victim suffered several bruises on his face, particularly around his eyes, and a fractured nose, according to the victim’s account,” he said. After the assault, the victim went home. His parents, upon discovering he had been beaten, reported the incident to the Gunungkidul Police on Wednesday (17/6/2026). “Then yesterday, Thursday (18/6/2026), we detained 11 individuals related to the assault case. Out of the 11, 10 have been named as suspects and are being held. One person has not been detained yet because they are still a minor and will only be questioned,” he concluded.
