A Glimpse of Preparations Ahead of the 14 August Joint Session
The MPR Annual Session and the DPR-DPD Joint Session will be held on Friday, 14 August 2026. President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to attend to deliver the state address. What do the preparations look like so far?
Monitoring by detikcom at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday, 12 August 2026, revealed a number of preparations are being finalised. Red and white hues are enhancing the appearance of the building area. Moreover, a full dress rehearsal was held today.
A number of secretariat general staff were seen demonstrating the running of the annual session. The organising committee was also busy preparing the main hall that will serve as the event venue.
At the VIP entrance, red floral decorations were seen welcoming the guests’ arrival. A small stage with a backdrop featuring the logos of the MPR, DPR, and DPD has also been installed. The stage will later be used for a photo session with the President and Vice President along with the leaders of the MPR, DPR, DPD, and other invited guests.
Inside the session hall, red and white ornaments dominated. Seats for the families of the President and Vice President, as well as the Deputy Speakers of the MPR, DPR, and DPD, were arranged on the right wing side.
DPR Acting Secretary General Suprihartini stated that preparations for the Annual Session on 14 August 2026 had reached approximately 90 per cent. A full dress rehearsal with all participants was also held today.
“The DPR and DPD RI Joint Session will begin at 08.30 WIB. It will be attended directly by the President, the Vice President, and other invited guests. We are continuing to finalise these preparations, and today the three secretariats general (MPR, DPR, and DPD) are conducting a full dress rehearsal with all participants,” said Suprihartini.
Regarding the dress code, Suprihartini explained that male invitees are required to wear Complete Civilian Attire (PSL), while women wear national attire.
“For our invited guests, for men, the attire is PSL (Complete Civilian Attire), and for women, national attire. That is the provision in the invitation. However, regarding the President’s attendance, we are still awaiting confirmation of the attire to be used from the Palace Protocol,” she explained.
She added that the annual session will also impact traffic engineering around the Senayan area. The public is urged to anticipate congestion and use alternative routes.
“For state events, there will usually be security and traffic arrangements by the TNI-Polri and other security personnel,” said Suprihartini.
“This will certainly affect the smooth flow of public activities. We urge the public to monitor official announcements regarding traffic diversions, temporary road closures, and accessible alternative routes,” she added.
