Furthermore, the Australian property tycoon also had the opportunity to receive a visit from Sandiaga Uno, the former Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, who travelled to Sydney alongside a delegation from the Surabaya Business Forum.
The visit was part of a series of events under the Sydney Business Insights and Mini Marathon, which brought together the Indonesian business community with various perspectives on business, investment, tourism, and the development of Sydney.
“I have known Sandiaga for quite some time, since his tenure as the Deputy Governor of Jakarta. This meeting felt quite special. We did not only discuss business, but also exchanged thoughts and ideas, and observed various developments from our respective perspectives,” he remarked.
The relationship between Indonesia and Sydney also felt personal when Mari Elka Pangestu, former Minister of Trade and former Managing Director of Development Policy and Partnerships at the World Bank, visited Sydney as part of her trip to participate in the Sydney Marathon.
“It was certainly pleasant to be able to meet, converse, and exchange views with her while in Sydney. The conversation was not only about business, but also about how Indonesia and Australia continue to grow and possess significant space for mutual connection,” Iwan expressed.
In his view, Sydney’s appeal to investors is not solely determined by the property sector. The city’s overall ecosystem—ranging from infrastructure, international connectivity, education, tourism, and lifestyle to the business environment—forms part of the considerations for anyone looking at investment opportunities in this harbour city.
