A Glimpse Inside the Control Room of the Leopard Tank, the Pride of the Indonesian Army | Brigade Podcast
JAKARTA, Kompas.com - The 1st Cavalry Battalion/Badak Ceta Cakti Kostrad in Cijantung houses Indonesia’s prized “Steel Monster.” The Brigade Podcast team had the opportunity to explore the control room and examine the interior of the Leopard tank at the 1st Cavalry Battalion headquarters. Accompanied by the Battalion Commander of the 1st Cavalry Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Ramdhani Akbar, we toured the base and viewed the tanks that serve as the mainstay of the Indonesian Army. These include the Leopard tank, a main battle tank equipped with a 120mm cannon and NATO-standard AMAP protection technology; the Marder 1A3 tank, a German infantry fighting vehicle known for its high mobility; and supporting military equipment such as the Bridge Laying Vehicle (AVLB), the Armoured Recovery Vehicle (ARV), and the Scania P460 heavy-duty truck. In addition to the combat vehicles, we were also shown the advanced weaponry and equipment, including smart ammunition, the sophisticated DM-11 bullet with adjustable detonation, and the BMS communication technology used to monitor the battlefield digitally and in real-time.
