A face-lift for Jakarta

The renovated image of Arjuna Wijaya enhances the beauty of
Jakarta. The Parkir Timur Senayan and National Monument (Monas)
squares, now being replanted, will hopefully also make Jakarta
greener.

Jakarta Governor Sutiyoso apparently wishes to make the Monas
area, including Jl. Merdeka Timur, Merdeka Utara, Merdeka Barat
and Merdeka Selatan, more attractive. Following Arjuna Wijaya,
the other statues around Monas, the fountain opposite the Indosat
Building and the dancing fountain west of the Monas square are
likely to be given a face-lift.

Next on the list are the Gelora Bung Karno stadium and other
complexes of the kind, which will be renovated to help create a
gorgeous and fresh environment in the capital city. Bravo Bang
