A Day with Eddy Soeparno During Ramadan: From Sahur to Campus
Ramadan serves as a time of reflection while remaining productive for Eddy Soeparno, Deputy Speaker of the MPR RI from the National Mandate Party (PAN) faction. In his daily routine, he continues his intensive activities as a public official, from sahur with his family to work agendas targeting the younger generation.
detikcom had the opportunity to follow Eddy’s activities directly during Ramadan. The day begins with sahur alongside his family. Though simple, this moment is an important time for togetherness.
His wife, Sawitri Soeparno, revealed that her husband’s activities tend to be even busier during Ramadan.
“It can’t be described; his activities remain as usual. In fact, they’re more numerous because they start earlier,” said Sawitri, quoted from 20detik, Wednesday (18/3/2026).
Nevertheless, family time is still preserved, especially during iftar until tarawih prayers, which are often performed together.
A Structured Figure Behind the Busyness
Behind his busyness as a state official, Eddy is known as an organised individual. Even for official trips, he prepares everything well in advance.
“For example, if Father has a schedule to leave the city this month, say to four cities. His suitcase is already organised for those four destinations,” said Sawitri.
“And Father himself prepares everything far in advance. So on the day itself, he just closes it,” she added.
This discipline is key to staying productive amid a packed schedule, including during Ramadan.
MPR Goes to Campus, Bringing Environmental Issues Closer to Students
On the same day, Eddy travelled to Bandung to carry out the ‘MPR Goes to Campus’ programme. This agenda aims to socialise strategic issues such as the climate crisis and energy transition to students.
Moreover, Eddy is one of the members of Commission XII of the DPR RI, which oversees energy, mineral and coal resources, the environment, and investment.
One of the campuses visited was Universitas Padjadjaran in Jatinangor, Sumedang. There, Eddy engaged directly in dialogue with students regarding future environmental challenges.
“I have visited 43 campuses in the last one year and two months. The students’ response is very positive, and they want to contribute,” said Eddy.
The visit continued to BINUS @Bandung campus located in Pasirkaliki, Bandung City. Eddy appreciated the students’ enthusiasm, which not only focuses on entrepreneurship but also cares about environmental issues.
On that occasion, Campus Director of BINUS @Bandung, Dr Johan Muliadi Kerta, appreciated Eddy. According to Dr Johan, this programme is very beneficial for students because Eddy brings up-to-date issues like the climate crisis.
Maintaining Fitness Amid Fasting
Amid his busyness, Eddy still maintains his physical fitness. He routinely exercises, both in the morning and before iftar.
“In the morning, I limit my cardio so as not to get too thirsty. In the evening, it can be more complete, from cardio to weightlifting,” he explained.
If time does not permit, exercise is done after tarawih prayers.
For Eddy, Ramadan is not just about personal worship, but also a momentum to continue serving the community. From preserving family togetherness, carrying out state duties, to educating the younger generation, all are carried out in balance.
Amid this busyness, one thing that remains preserved is the essence of Ramadan itself: sharing, reflection, and making an impact for others.
