A closer look at the BYD Seal 6 DM
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - BYD did not only showcase plug-in hybrid technology through the M6 DM family MPV at the BYD Tech-Culture Fest 2026. The Chinese manufacturer also brought the electrified Seal 6 DM sedan as a showcase of their latest Dual Mode (DM) technology.
Looking at the unit up close, the BYD Seal 6 appears with a design not far from conventional sedans in general. Only, the character looks modern, clean, and very much infused with the feel of contemporary electric cars.
The main headlights already use full LED technology with daytime running lights (DRL) shaped sharply, giving an aggressive impression. Meanwhile the BYD logo on the bonnet is kept simple to add a minimalist feel.
Moving to the side, the coupe silhouette is evident through the roof line that slopes towards the rear. The design not only enhances aesthetics but also helps improve the vehicle’s aerodynamic efficiency.
Other modern details include flush door handles integrated with the body. The wheels are designed aerodynamically to help reduce wind resistance as the car travels.
Entering the rear, the Seal 6 still retains a futuristic impression. The LED tail lights extend from left to right, producing a visually wider effect.
Below it there is the inscription “BYD SEAL 6” emphasising the car’s identity. The rear bumper area is made sporty with a diffuser accented like a exhaust, even though the car uses electrification technology.
Entering the cabin, the premium feel is immediate. Soft-touch materials dominate the interior with neatly crafted stitching details.
In the driver’s side dashboard there is a digital instrument panel presenting various vehicle information, from speed, battery status, to real-time energy consumption.
Meanwhile, in the middle of the dashboard there is a large 15.6-inch touchscreen that serves as the hub for vehicle features and entertainment systems.
The centre console area is also quite functional with additional storage space for small items such as wallets or smartphones. Some important buttons like hazard lights, start-stop button, and parking brake remain in physical form.
Globally, the BYD Seal 6 DM is a plug-in hybrid sedan (PHEV) combining a 1,500 cc petrol engine with an electric motor.
The petrol engine produces around 74 kW of power and 126 Nm of torque, while the electric motor is claimed to deliver more than 200 hp.
In pure electric mode, the Seal 6 DM is said to be able to cover up to 128 kilometres depending on the battery capacity used.
