A 15-Metre Kapok Tree Falls, Blocking Road in Karangasem
A large kapok tree fell and blocked access to a road in Banjar Dinas Eka Adnyana, Tianyar Village, Kubu District, Karangasem Regency, on Friday (23 October 2026). The tree is thought to have fallen because of strong winds in the area.
Karangasem Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) chief executive I Made Aditya Sugiharta said the fallen tree was about 15 metres tall and 150 centimetres in diameter. Fortunately, no one was killed or injured.
“The fallen trunk and branches blocked the road and disrupted traffic,” Aditya said.
After receiving a report of the incident, the BPBD’s Rapid Response Team was dispatched to the site. The response was carried out with residents and other relevant parties.
“We cut up and removed the trunk and branches obstructing the road. After that, access returned to normal,” Aditya said.
Following the incident, the Karangasem BPBD urged the public to be alert to the risk of trees falling in strong winds, particularly when travelling on roads lined with trees.
