99 South Sumatra Police Personnel Beautify Jakabaring Through Belida Programme

A total of 99 personnel from the South Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumsel) worked together to clean and beautify the Jakabaring Sport Center area in Palembang through the Belida (Bersih Lingkungan dan Asri) Programme. The activity is a tangible form of support for the National Programme Gerakan Indonesia ASRI (Safe, Healthy, Clean, and Beautiful) and aims to present a clean, healthy, and comfortable public space for the community. The environmental action was centred at the entrance of the Jakabaring Sport Center starting at 8:00 AM local time and was led by the Head of Operations for the Directorate of Community Development, AKBP Indra Jaya. AKBP Indra stated that the Belida Programme represents the South Sumatra Police’s genuine concern for the environment and is part of an effort to build a culture of clean living within society. “We are implementing the Belida Programme on an ongoing basis as a form of police concern for environmental cleanliness and sustainability. We hope this activity can foster collective awareness that maintaining cleanliness is the responsibility of all elements of society to create a healthy, comfortable, and sustainable environment,” he said in a written statement on Saturday. The activity involved joint personnel from various work units within the South Sumatra Police as a form of cross-functional synergy in supporting government programmes related to environmental conservation. The 99 personnel deployed consisted of 30 members from the Directorate of Community and Public Order, 10 from the Directorate of Vital Object Security, 20 from the Directorate of Water and Air Police, 30 from the Mobile Brigade Corps, and support from the Public Relations Division. The Jakabaring Sport Center was chosen because it is a national sports icon and a public space used daily by the community. The event proceeded in an orderly, safe, and smooth manner thanks to solid coordination between work units. Head of Public Relations for the South Sumatra Police, Senior Commissioner Nandang Mu’min Wijaya, affirmed that the Belida Programme is a concrete implementation of the force’s commitment to supporting the national Gerakan Indonesia ASRI campaign. “We are fully committed to supporting government programmes aimed at improving the quality of life for the community, including through sustainable environmental clean-up movements. A clean and healthy environment will have a positive impact on public health while strengthening a sense of care and togetherness,” he said. He added that the spirit of environmental stewardship aligns with the South Sumatra Police Chief’s motto, ‘Have You Done Good Today?’, which continuously motivates all personnel to deliver tangible benefits to the community.
