The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) has revealed that nearly 99% of cheating cases in the National Selection Based on Test (SNBT) targeted Medical Programmes.

“Essentially, almost all 99% of these cases involve Medical Programmes,” said Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto during a press conference in Jakarta on Monday.

The ministry has pledged serious attention and meticulous identification to prevent recurrence, stressing zero tolerance for any cheating in the national selection process as it disadvantages other candidates and undermines national character development.

“SNBT is a national selection process; if someone passes, others are excluded. This fundamentally contradicts educational and national character development, so we will not tolerate any form of cheating, however minor,” Yuliarto emphasised.

SNPMB Task Force Chairman Eduart Wolok confirmed last year’s cheating data overwhelmingly targeted Medical Programmes using proxies.

“To prevent proxy use in the 2026 SNBT, applicants for Medical and Dental Programmes will be scheduled for the first two exam days (April 21-22), with this strategic scheduling designed as a surprise mitigation measure to minimise cheating opportunities,” Wolok stated.
