Under the coordination of the Task Force for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (Satgas PRR), post-flood recovery in Sumatra is progressing swiftly. Of the 704 affected fuel stations (SPBU), only 5 units or 0.71% remain non-operational. This achievement stems from the rapid response by all ministries and agencies during the emergency phase. As many as 699 affected SPBU have resumed operations, with the remaining 5 located entirely in Aceh Province. Aceh, known as the Verandah of Mecca, was the most significantly impacted area. Of the 156 SPBU affected by flooding, 151 have already resumed operations. Data from the Satgas PRR for Post-Disaster Sumatra as of Tuesday, 7 April 2025, indicates that these 5 SPBU are difficult to operationalise due to obstructed access roads. In addressing this issue, Satgas PRR, led by Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, has prepared 8 alternative SPBU distributed across Central Aceh Regency, covering Bebesen, Silih Nara, Jagong Jeget, Bintang, Rusip Antara, and Linge sub-districts. For daily cooking needs, Aceh residents need not worry. As many as 11 Bulk LPG Filling Stations (SPBE) are fully operational, as are 131 LPG agents, now 100% accessible. A prestigious achievement has been recorded in North Sumatra. For both oil and gas needs, the public can now breathe a sigh of relief. Based on Satgas PRR data, all affected facilities—comprising 406 SPBU, 46 SPBE, and 383 LPG agent units—have resumed functioning and are able to meet public needs. The distribution route from the Sibolga Fuel Terminal (FT) to Humbang Hasundutan, North Tapanuli, Toba, and Mandailing Natal regencies in the west coast area remains disrupted. Nevertheless, supplies are maintained by rerouting through FT Dumai, Siantar, and Teluk Kabung. Meanwhile, for the areas of Sibolga City, Central Tapanuli, South Tapanuli, Padang Sidempuan, Padang Lawas, North Padang Lawas, and parts of Mandailing Natal, distribution has returned to normal and is served from FT Sibolga. Similarly, in West Sumatra Province, of the total 147 SPBU, 14 SPBE, and 172 LPG agents, all are now 100% operational. Distribution is conducted via the alternative Sitinjau Lauik route, following the disruption of access from the Teluk Kabung Fuel Terminal on the Anai Valley and Malalak routes. The operational status of SPBU serves as one indicator of recovery. Therefore, Satgas PRR will work diligently to achieve 100% operations so that community life can return to normal. “If electricity, fuel, and communication are running, governance and the economy will recover more quickly,” said Tito in January.
