JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - A total of 987 civil servants have registered to participate in the first wave of Reserve Component (Komcad) training.

“Regarding the first wave of Komcad training for civil servants, as of today, the number of civil servants who have registered is 987, out of a quota of 2,000 participants,” said the Head of Information and Public Relations of the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Defence, Brigadier General TNI Rico Ricardo Sirait, when confirmed on Thursday (26/2/2026).

Rico said that, in accordance with Komcad regulations, registered candidates must still undergo a selection process.

“The selection process includes administrative selection, health checks, physical fitness tests, psychological assessments, and ideological assessments to ensure that participants are prepared to participate in Komcad training,” he said.

“The duration of training for each wave is approximately 1.5 months,” he added.

Previously, Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin confirmed that 4,000 civil servants from ministries and agencies in Jakarta would become Reserve Components.

“In the first semester of 2026, we will begin training civil servants, and for this first semester, we will focus on ministries in Jakarta, with approximately 4,000 people,” said Sjafrie, quoted by ANTARA on Monday (2/2/2026).

Sjafrie spoke while delivering material to members of the Indonesian Journalists Association who were attending a retreat at the National Defence Competency Centre of the Defence Human Resources Development Agency in Cibodas, Rumpiang, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Saturday (30/1/2026).

The civil servants, aged 18 to 35, will participate in various basic military training programmes.

After the series of basic training is completed, the civil servants will return to their respective agencies and institutions to continue their service.
