98 Unnes Students to Undertake Teaching Practice Abroad
Semarang (ANTARA) - A total of 98 students from Semarang State University (Unnes) have been sent to participate in teaching practicums abroad, covering six countries under the International Lantip Programme.
Unnes Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Zaenuri, stated in Semarang on Friday that the participants of the International Lantip Programme serve as representatives of Unnes on a global level. They will undertake teaching practices in Malaysia, the Philippines, Australia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt.
According to him, the programme is a manifestation of Unnes’s commitment to strengthening the internationalisation of education, while simultaneously enhancing student competence through cross-cultural learning experiences. Consequently, students are expected to uphold the university’s reputation, demonstrate professionalism, and maintain high standards of ethics, discipline, and responsibility throughout the programme in their destination countries.
The International Lantip Programme is a teaching practicum initiative that provides students with opportunities to gain teaching experience in partner schools or institutions abroad. Through this programme, students develop pedagogical competence, the ability to adapt to cross-cultural environments, and broader insights into the educational systems of other nations.
The distribution of these assignments reflects the expanding international cooperation network of Unnes in supporting the enhancement of student competence, particularly in educational practice and cross-cultural learning. Through the International Lantip Programme, students are expected to gain practical teaching experience in partner institutions abroad, while developing communication skills, cultural adaptation, international collaboration, and an understanding of foreign educational systems.
He explained that such experiences serve as vital preparation for students as future educators and professionals ready to face global challenges.
The Head of the Unnes Institute for Educational and Professional Development, Rodiyah, stated that the implementation of the International Lantip Programme is a form of Unnes’s support for the internationalisation of education. The programme also serves as a strategic space for students to implement their academic, pedagogical, social, and personality competencies within a global learning context.
The implementation of the 2026 International Lantip Programme is supported by various funding schemes, provided by both the Institute for Educational and Professional Development and the respective faculties.
