98 Unnes Students to Undertake Teaching Practice Abroad

A total of 98 students from Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) have been sent to undertake teaching practice abroad across six countries under the Lantip Internasional programme. Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs at Unnes, Zaenuri, stated in Semarang on Friday that the participating students represent Unnes on a global stage. They will conduct teaching practice in Malaysia, the Philippines, Australia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. According to him, the programme is a form of Unnes’s commitment to strengthening the internationalisation of education whilst simultaneously enhancing student competencies through cross-cultural learning experiences. Therefore, students are expected to uphold the university’s good name, demonstrate professional attitudes, and maintain high standards of ethics, discipline, and responsibility during the programme in their destination countries. Lantip Internasional is a teaching practice programme that provides students with the opportunity to gain teaching experience in overseas partner schools or institutions. Through this programme, students develop pedagogical competencies, the ability to adapt to cross-cultural environments, and broaden their understanding of education systems in other countries. The distribution of placement locations reflects the expanding international cooperation network of Unnes in supporting the strengthening of student competencies, particularly in educational practice and cross-cultural learning experiences. Through the Lantip Internasional programme, students are expected to gain practical teaching experience in overseas partner schools or institutions, whilst simultaneously developing communication skills, cultural adaptation, international collaboration, and an understanding of education systems in other countries. He explained that this experience serves as an important foundation for students as future educators and professionals ready to face global challenges. The Head of the Education and Professional Development Institute at Unnes, Rodiyah, conveyed that the implementation of Lantip Internasional is one manifestation of Unnes’s support for the internationalisation of education. The programme also serves as a strategic space for students to implement academic, pedagogical, social, and personal competencies within a global learning context. The 2026 Lantip Internasional programme is supported by various funding schemes, both from the Education and Professional Development Institute and from each respective faculty.
