98 Resolutions Network distributes aid to earthquake victims in NTT

The 98 Resolutions Network community has distributed humanitarian aid in the form of basic food packages and cash worth nearly Rp1 billion to communities affected by the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

David Herson, a member of 98 Resolutions Network, said in a statement received in Kupang on Tuesday that the assistance was a form of care and solidarity from the network towards the people of NTT who have experienced the earthquake disaster.

“NTT’s sorrow is our shared sorrow. When our brothers and sisters experience a disaster, we must not remain silent. We must be present, join hands, and provide whatever assistance we can,” he said.

He said the assistance was a humanitarian calling as well as a demonstration of brotherhood towards communities facing a disaster.

“The assistance provided may not be able to erase all the sadness felt by the affected communities, but it is hoped that it can ease their burden and give the victims the spirit to rise again,” he said.

David explained that the value of the assistance, which nearly reached Rp1 billion, was the result of the spirit of togetherness and care among members of 98 Resolutions Network.

“This assistance may not be able to erase all the sadness they feel, but we hope it can ease the burden and give them the spirit to rise again,” he said.

He said the basic food packages are expected to help meet the basic needs of the community, while the donated money can be used to meet various urgent needs during the post-disaster recovery process.

98 Resolutions Network hopes the assistance can be part of a collective effort to support the people of NTT through the emergency response and recovery period following the earthquake.

In addition to material assistance, the action is expected to provide moral reinforcement for affected communities, showing that they are not alone in facing the disaster.

“When communities in one region experience a disaster, communities from other regions also have a moral responsibility to be present, provide support, and help according to their capabilities,” said David.
