979 graduated from Polytechnic Institute

JAKARTA: Nearly 1000 students from the Jakarta Polytechnic
Institute graduated from its three-year diploma program on
Saturday.

The 979 students comprised part of the total 3,568 students
studying at the institute, institute director Jusafwar said in
his opening speech.

He said industrial firms had already asked graduates to work
for them.

"In 2001, there were 177 companies, this year there were 210
firms," he said.

The graduation ceremony was also attended by the secretary for
the director general of higher education at the Ministry of
Education, Tommy Ilyas. --JP
