967 New Migrants Enter Jakarta After Eid al-Fitr 2026, Dominated by West Java Residents
The Jakarta Provincial Government, through the Population and Civil Registration Office (Disdukcapil), has recorded 967 new migrants entering the capital following the Eid al-Fitr homecoming exodus in 2026. Head of Disdukcapil DKI Jakarta, Denny Wahyu Haryanto, stated that this number was compiled from Wednesday (25/3/2026) to Tuesday (30/3/2026). “The total number of new migrants post-Eid from the 25th to today is 967,” Denny said when confirmed on Tuesday (31/3/2026). West Java is the largest originating province with 35.28 per cent, followed by Banten at 16.92 per cent, Central Java at 16.33 per cent, and North Sumatra at 10.85 per cent. Meanwhile, in terms of originating cities, the most migrants come from Bekasi at 6.39 per cent, then Depok at 5.5 per cent, Bogor at 5.03 per cent, and South Tangerang City at 4.29 per cent. Compared to recent years, the number of new migrants after Eid this year tends to be decreasing. “Looking at the trend over the last three years, there seems to be a decline,” Denny said. Nevertheless, he emphasised that the data is still provisional as the registration process continues. Disdukcapil is awaiting the recapitulation of population administration services running until 25 April 2026. “For this year, we are still waiting for the Adminduk service data from 25 March to 25 April 2026,” Denny said. The activity involves outreach and guidance on population administration at the neighbourhood level, scheduled from 1 to 20 April 2026. According to him, this is not a legal enforcement operation, but rather facilitation for migrant communities to report their arrival as part of population events in Jakarta. “This is not a legal enforcement operation, but guidance to ensure migrants comply with administration and are officially recorded,” he explained. The Jakarta Provincial Government urges new migrants to report promptly so that population data remains accurate and public services can operate optimally.
