95,000 BPJS PBI Members in West Lombok Deactivated Due to Desil Changes and Online Gambling Indicators

As many as 95,000 memberships of the Social Security Administering Body (BPJS) for Contribution Assistance Beneficiaries (PBI) in West Lombok Regency have been deactivated. Head of the West Lombok Social, Women’s Protection and Children’s Services Agency (Dinsos PPA), Arief Suryawirawan, stated that this figure is an accumulation of deactivations over the past several months. “There are deactivations every month,” Arief said on Monday (6/7/2026). Arief admitted he does not yet know the exact cause of the deactivation of tens of thousands of these BPJS PBI memberships. According to him, determining membership status is the authority of the central government based on data updates. He suspects the deactivations are influenced by several factors, such as beneficiaries being indicated as involved in online gambling (judol) or changes in welfare status, known as desil, within the National Integrated Social and Economic Data (DTSEN). “The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) knows the exact cause. But usually, it is due to indications of online gambling, as well as changes in desil,” he said. Despite this, Arief said the public need not worry about the deactivation. The West Lombok Regency Government continues to guarantee health services through the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) scheme until the BPJS PBI memberships are reactivated. He urged affected residents to immediately apply for reactivation through their village government or directly to the West Lombok Dinsos PPA. “Just apply for reactivation later. The reactivation process can be done through the social services agency or via the village operator,” Arief concluded.
