The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has recorded that 93 per cent of Jakarta residents lack sufficient physical activity, based on results from the Free Health Screening (CKG) programme throughout 2025 and into early 2026.

“From the examination results, the most common findings come from the cardiovascular disease risk group, particularly central obesity and lack of physical activity (93 per cent),” said DKI Jakarta Health Agency (Dinkes) Head Ani Ruspitawati when contacted in Jakarta on Monday.

She also noted that 74 per cent of residents who underwent the CKG screening showed abnormal blood lipid levels (dyslipidaemia), whilst 51 per cent experienced dental health problems.

As a follow-up to these health findings, the DKI Health Agency is strengthening its promotive and preventive programmes, including expanding education on healthy living behaviours and increasing non-communicable disease risk factor screening through the CKG programme.

The DKI Health Agency is also partnering with various parties to create an environment more conducive to physical activity and balanced nutrition.

The CKG programme is an effort for early detection and disease prevention. Screening can be conducted for various conditions, including diabetes, heart disease, and communicable disease risks such as tuberculosis (TB). Height and weight measurements, blood pressure checks, and blood sugar tests can also be performed through the programme.

Dental examinations are also available, though limited to checks without treatment procedures such as fillings or extractions. However, if potential diseases are identified, follow-up action is taken according to individual conditions, with recommendations for the appropriate treatment pathway.

In Jakarta, residents can undergo the CKG screening at 44 community health centres (puskesmas) across six city districts. In 2025, a total of 4,202,586 people underwent the screening, representing 37.5 per cent of the target population.

Subsequently in 2026, from January to 11 February, 146,727 people have undergone the screening, with numbers continuing to grow through to the end of the year.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health is targeting 130 million citizens to participate in the CKG programme in 2026. This year’s target is higher than the 2025 figure of just 70 million people.
