93 Community Schools to Be Completed by June, Recruitment of 3,000 Teachers to Begin Soon

Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf, also known as Gus Ipul, revealed that 93 locations for permanent community schools in Phase II are targeted for completion by June, ready for use in the 2026/2027 academic year starting in July.

‘The completion targets for the 93 community school buildings will be communicated directly, with all efforts supported by the Minister of Public Works to accelerate construction so they can be used for learning by July,’ Gus Ipul stated following a meeting with Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo.

The construction of these 93 community schools is part of Phase II, with five locations in high-risk zones facing cash flow and human resource challenges.

Gus Ipul emphasised ongoing efforts to synchronise acceleration of permanent community school construction at the regional level.

During the transition from pilot to permanent community schools, he noted this year’s recruitment of over 3,000 teachers and 5,000 education support staff to assist student learning at the permanent schools.

‘We will recruit more than 3,000 teachers and 5,000 education support staff this year, with over 32,000 students to be enrolled,’ he added.
